Privacy Policy
Effective date:
StackSim is an educational DSA and system-design simulator operated by Ritwik Shaw. This policy explains the information involved when you use this website.
No registration, advertising, or visitor profiles
StackSim does not require registration or provide user accounts, profiles, payments, or a newsletter. It does not intentionally collect visitor names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account information through the application.
StackSim does not use visitor information for advertising, create advertising profiles, or intentionally use behavioral advertising or tracking technologies. No marketing analytics, advertising pixels, or session-replay tools are integrated into the application.
If you choose to email the creator, your email address and the information you include are received to respond to your message. Do not include secrets or unnecessary sensitive information in correspondence.
Code playground privacy
JavaScript written in the StackSim playground executes locally inside your browser. StackSim does not send playground JavaScript to its server for execution.
The runner uses an isolated JavaScript runtime in a browser worker. Code, inputs, execution recordings, and results are processed on your device. Code drafts are saved locally as described below; recordings, custom inputs, and visual labels remain in workspace memory and are not uploaded by the application.
Avoid entering passwords, API keys, access tokens, personal information, confidential information, or other sensitive information into the playground. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to access saved drafts. Local storage is not an encrypted secrets vault.
Cookies and browser storage
The application does not set cookies or use sessionStorage or IndexedDB. It uses localStorage for these three records:
dsa-playground:v1- Theme, reference-code language, playback speed, panel width, JavaScript code drafts by problem, and problem progress (viewed, visualized, attempted, passed, update timestamps, and a content version).
dsa-playground:system-design:v1- System-design topic progress: started status, completed lessons, last lesson, challenge completion and results (success rate, p95 latency, pass status), quiz score, update timestamps, and a content version.
dsa-playground:low-level-design:v1- Low-level design reading status, last visited topic and article section, plain-text notes, bookmarks, best quiz scores, challenge completion, content versions, and update timestamps. Notes are stored on this device and are not uploaded or synchronized by StackSim.
The historical storage-key names are retained so existing drafts and progress remain available. These records stay in your browser profile; StackSim does not synchronize them with a server or another device. If storage is unavailable or full, changes remain in memory for the current session.
You can remove these records using your browser’s site-data controls for ritwikshaw.xyz. Clearing site data resets local drafts, progress, and preferences. Records otherwise remain until you or the browser clear them; StackSim does not set an automatic expiry. Ordinary browser caching may also retain downloaded application assets.
There are no non-essential cookie integrations in the application and no cookie-consent banner. Your hosting or network environment may have its own technical behavior outside the application’s storage code.
Limited technical information
Hosting and network infrastructure may process IP addresses, request URLs, timestamps, browser or user-agent information, and technical logs needed to deliver and protect the website. Such information is used for security, reliability, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and aggregate infrastructure or network traffic monitoring.
No external error-monitoring provider is currently integrated into this application. If configured in the future, error monitoring may process technical diagnostic information required to identify application failures. Playground code, editor contents, request bodies containing user input, tokens, and authorization information must not be included in monitoring reports.
Third-party services and links
Application scripts, fonts, editor workers, and the execution runtime are served from this website; no third-party analytics or embedded social widgets are loaded. The site links to GitHub and LinkedIn. Following a link takes you to that service, whose own privacy policy applies. Email correspondence is handled by the email services you and the creator use.
Hosting and network providers support delivery of the website. The repository does not identify the active production providers or their log-retention settings, so this policy does not name an unverified provider or promise a particular infrastructure retention period. Contact the creator for details about the current hosting arrangement.
Security and retention
StackSim uses browser execution isolation and bounded processing to reduce risk. No website, browser, or storage mechanism can guarantee absolute security. Keep your browser updated and protect access to your device.
Technical logs should be retained only as needed for their operational or security purpose and applicable legal requirements; actual retention depends on the infrastructure configuration. Voluntary correspondence may be retained as needed to answer the request and resolve related issues. Contact the creator to ask about access, correction, or deletion of information they hold, subject to applicable law. Local browser records can be cleared directly on your device.
Children’s privacy
StackSim is a general educational tool with no child accounts or intentional collection of children’s personal information. Minors should use it with appropriate parent, guardian, or educator guidance. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the creator, contact the address below so it can be reviewed and appropriately removed.
Policy changes
This policy may change as StackSim evolves. Updates will be published here with a revised effective date. Material changes to collection or use should be explained before they take effect, with any notice or consent required by applicable law.
