How caching strategies works
Follow one product value through the application, cache, database and write buffer. Compare speed, freshness and the point at which a write becomes durable.
When to use it
Reduce repeated product lookups while deciding how quickly price changes must appear.
Explore the tradeoffs
A hit avoids a database read; it does not prove freshness. A long TTL improves reuse but can preserve an externally outdated value.
External writers still require invalidation or eventual expiration. Write-through waits for durable storage, adding work to the write path.
An acknowledged buffered write can disappear without durable buffering. Deferred writes reduce foreground waiting but complicate recovery and ordering.
Model boundaries
A single key, no eviction or concurrent operations. Write-through updates succeed together in this model; real systems need explicit handling of partial failures.
